Placements24 in Polokwane, Limpopo, is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to lead fertiliser production. You will oversee and optimize processes for ammonia-, urea-, and phosphate-based fertilisers, ensuring safe, efficient operations and high product quality.

The role requires 7+ years in large-scale chemical plants, strong reactor and distillation knowledge, and proven leadership. You will drive process improvements, mentor plant personnel, and report KPIs to management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in chemical process engineering with fertiliser focus (ammonia, urea, phosphate).
• Experience with large-scale chemical plant operations (reactors, distillation, solids handling).
• Proven track record in process optimization and debottlenecking.
• Strong knowledge of process control systems and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with safety management and environmental regulations in chemical manufacturing.
• Excellent analytical and leadership skills; strong team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize daily fertiliser production operations for efficiency and output.
• Lead process improvements to boost quality, reduce costs, and cut environmental impact.
• Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards across production.
• Analyze processes, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions.
• Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Lead or participate in projects on process upgrades, debottlenecking, and new products.
