About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for their properties, with a focus on remote oversight and management of on-site teams supporting the Soweto region and other locations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring all facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and operational readiness. You will manage budgets, coordinate maintenance schedules, oversee external contractors, and implement best practices in facilities management. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong understanding of building systems, maintenance procedures, and a proven ability to manage teams and resources effectively from a remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive facilities maintenance strategies and preventative maintenance programs.
• Manage and oversee the daily operations of maintenance teams, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring, primarily through remote communication and reporting tools.
• Control and manage the facilities maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
• Oversee the selection, contracting, and performance management of third-party vendors and service providers.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations across all managed facilities.
• Lead initiatives for facility upgrades, repairs, and energy management improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience managing maintenance operations for multiple commercial or industrial properties.
• Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural maintenance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage teams remotely.
• Proficiency in facilities management software and remote collaboration tools.
