About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking exploration company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Exploration Geochemist to join their dedicated team in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role is instrumental in identifying and defining new mineral prospects through the application of advanced geochemical techniques. The Senior Geochemist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and interpreting geochemical surveys, integrating data with geological and geophysical information to guide exploration programs. This position requires a deep understanding of trace element behavior, mineral deposit models, and statistical analysis of geochemical data. You will play a crucial role in uncovering the next generation of valuable mineral resources for our client. Key Responsibilities

Design and manage comprehensive geochemical exploration programs, including sampling strategies for soils, stream sediments, rock, and drill core. Oversee the collection, preparation, and analysis of geochemical samples, ensuring quality control and data integrity. Interpret complex geochemical datasets using advanced statistical methods and specialized software (e.g., ioGAS, ArcGIS). Integrate geochemical data with geological, geophysical, and other exploration datasets to generate robust exploration targets. Develop conceptual models for mineralization and provide expert geological interpretations. Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration activities. Collaborate closely with geologists, geophysicists, and project managers to define exploration strategies. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in exploration geochemistry and analytical techniques. Mentor and guide junior geochemists and field technicians.

Requirements

MSc or PhD in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related earth science discipline. A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in mineral exploration geochemistry, with a strong focus on base metals, precious metals, or critical minerals. Proven expertise in designing and interpreting large-scale geochemical surveys. Proficiency in statistical analysis software and geochemical data management tools. Experience with GIS software for data visualization and integration. Excellent understanding of mineral deposit styles and exploration techniques. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
