Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom components for museum exhibits using a variety of materials (wood, metal, plastics, composites).
• Operate and maintain workshop machinery and tools safely and effectively.
• Interpret and execute detailed technical drawings and specifications from exhibit designers.
• Manage and lead fabrication teams, assigning tasks and ensuring quality control.
• Oversee and perform on-site installation of exhibits, including mounting, assembly, and finishing.
• Coordinate with project managers and clients to ensure timelines and site logistics are met.
• Ensure all work adheres to strict safety regulations and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication and installation challenges in a timely manner.
• Manage inventory of materials and workshop supplies.
• Collaborate with designers to identify potential fabrication efficiencies and solutions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in exhibit fabrication, scenic construction, woodworking, metalworking, or a related trade.
• Proven ability to fabricate complex structures and custom components for exhibitions or similar environments.
• Proficiency with a wide range of tools and machinery, including but not limited to table saws, routers, welders, and CNC machines.
• Strong understanding of materials and their properties.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
• Experience in leading small teams and managing project tasks.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel to various installation sites as needed.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
