Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Environmental Chemical Engineer for our client in Vereeniging. The role blends on-site site assessments with remote data analysis and reporting, focusing on compliance and sustainable process improvement.

You will lead environmental management, waste and emissions controls, and collaborate across departments to embed environmental considerations into design and operation. A strong regulatory background and PE registration are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in environmental engineering with focus on chemical processes and industrial operations.
• Proficient knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting.
• Experience with environmental modeling software and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental management plans to ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits for processes.
• Design and oversee wastewater treatment, air pollution control, and hazardous waste systems.
• Monitor environmental performance indicators and regulatory reports.
• Identify opportunities for waste reduction and resource conservation.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to integrate environmental considerations into design and modifications.
• Provide technical training on environmental best practices to site personnel.
• Investigate incidents and develop corrective action plans.
