Ikwezi Mining is seeking an Environmental Officer to ensure operations comply with environmental laws, permits, and sustainability standards while minimizing impact and managing risk.

You will oversee regulatory compliance for new and existing projects, develop long-term environmental strategies, lead plans, monitor targets, and mentor staff. Establish relationships with authorities and guide contractors to uphold standards.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management or Environmental Science.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining and consulting.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, standards and regulatory framework.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to coordinate projects and teams.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee environmental compliance processes for projects, ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Ensure compliance with permits, licenses and regulations across operations.
• Develop sustainable, long-term environmental strategies aligned with mine objectives and closure requirements.
• Lead the creation and improvement of environmental plans through project lifecycles.
• Prepare, review and update environmental policies, procedures and documentation.
• Set, monitor and report environmental targets and progress.
• Provide guidance on auditing and monitoring, and engage regulators.
• Oversee contractor management to ensure environmental standards.
• Facilitate community engagement, fostering transparent stakeholder communication.
• Mentor and coach interns, graduates and new staff.
