Placements24 is assisting a major energy sector client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, to appoint an experienced In-House Counsel. You will provide strategic legal support across energy projects, regulatory compliance and complex commercial matters.
You will draft and negotiate contracts, advise on environmental issues, manage risks, and oversee governance with external counsel. The role offers executive pay, medical/dental coverage, pension, relocation assistance, and solid career advancement
Competenze
- Admitted Attorney with at least 7 years post-qualification experience, focused on energy and/or corporate/commercial law.
- Experience advising on energy projects, regulatory frameworks, and related contracts.
- Strong knowledge of environmental law as applied to the energy sector.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide practical, business-oriented advice across departments.
- Experience managing external counsel and legal resources.
Mansioni
- Provide expert legal advice on energy sector matters including regulatory compliance and environmental law.
- Draft, review and negotiate EPC, power purchase, joint venture, and supply contracts.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks for energy projects and operations.
- Ensure adherence to local and international laws governing the energy industry.
- Advise on corporate governance and compliance matters.
- Manage disputes and litigation with external counsel when needed.
- Support business development with legal input on new ventures and partnerships.
- Stay updated on legal and policy changes impacting energy sector.
