Job summary

Scatec in Ceres, Western Cape, is seeking a Senior Electrician to perform electrical maintenance, modification and repair on the Solar PV Plant, including switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties. The role combines technical depth with leadership, training junior personnel, and coordinating with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving international environment.

Qualifications

• N3 Qualification required and ORHVS credentials.
• Qualified Electrician with ORHVS qualification and SANS 10142 registration.
• 5+ years electrical experience on AC & DC systems.
• Experience with MV and HV equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Ability to own electrical systems on the plant and lead safety switching activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform modification, repair, and maintenance of facility electrical equipment.
• Execute switching, isolation, earthing, and LOTO per authorisation levels.
• Maintain BESS, PV systems, and related electrical equipment.
• Interpret schematics and blueprints.
• Conduct QA checks and document deficiencies.
• Report daily activities in CMMS.
• Monitor and support maintenance subcontractors.
• Develop SOPs and process improvements.
• Provide training to junior staff.
• Perform authorised person and responsible person duties as required.

As the Senior Electrician you will perform Electrical work on the Solar PV Plant that will include Modification, Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment and Systems as well as switching, isolation, earthing and LOTO duties as per Authorisation level. What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform modification, troubleshooting, repair testing and maintenance of all facility electrical equipment, systems and network communication


• Execute switching, isolation, safety testing, earthing, and LOTO activities in line with ORHVS and PSR authorisation levels


• Conduct OEM-specific preventative and corrective maintenance on BESS, PV systems, and associated electrical equipment


• Interpret schematics and blueprints


• Quality assurance checklists and inspections to document deficiencies and identify corrective actions needed


• Daily digital reporting and document on CMMS the maintenance activities of all facility electrical equipment, systems and spare parts


• Control and perform monthly electrical equipment/instruments and tools inspections


• Monitor and support the activities of Maintenance sub-contractor(s)


• Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes


• Identify and provide feedback to issues and ongoing development of projects


• Perform functions of Authorised Person and Responsible Person as per Plant requirements

What You’ll Bring

Experience and qualifications

• N3 Qualification


• Qualified Electrician and ORHVS qualification


• Registered 3 phase installation electrician (SANS 10142); not single‑phase tester


• 5+ years Electrical experience – AC & DC electrical systems


• Proven experience on MV & HV equipment troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance


• Ability to take ownership of electrical systems on the plant


• High Voltage Switching and Solar PV Plant experience


• Supervise, train junior personnel in associated duties and evaluate electrical staff


• Maintain Transformers and Switchgear and Assist with reporting and perform various HSE related inspections


• Experience with HV Switching, Solar PV Plant & BESS
