Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Technician for our Kimberley operations. The role covers installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems, supervising junior technicians, and ensuring safety and reliability on-site.

The ideal candidate has a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, at least 5 years of experience with PLCs and VFDs, and strong schematic-reading skills. On-site work with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electrical Technician in industrial/commercial settings.
• Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical systems, including PLCs and VFDs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

About the Role

This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex electrical systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety across their facilities. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, performing preventative maintenance, and supervising junior technicians. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of electrical work within a dedicated, on‑site team.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of electrical equipment, systems, and control panels according to specifications and safety regulations.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and longevity of electrical infrastructure.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and malfunctions, implementing effective repair solutions promptly.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair activities.
• Supervise and mentor junior electrical technicians, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and industry best practices within the Northern Cape facility.
