Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Principal Electrical Project Engineer in Gauteng to lead large-scale electrical infrastructure projects from inception to completion.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years’ experience, and strong leadership and project-management skills. Pr Eng registration is highly desirable; duties include planning, procurement, installation and commissioning, with strict safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of experience in managing and delivering large-scale electrical projects.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Deep understanding of HV, MV and LV electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and delivery of major electrical projects.
• Develop detailed project plans: scope, budget, schedule, resources, risks.
• Oversee design, procurement, installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Manage project teams of engineers, technicians and contractors.
• Conduct technical reviews and site inspections for quality and design adherence.
• Communicate with stakeholders and provide regular project updates.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and implement contingency plans.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to project team members.
