Job summary

FM Staff seeks a Professional Engineer for a Cape Town role in Power Generation (Renewables & Grid). Lead multi-disciplinary design projects for PV systems, LV/MV MCCs, and battery/integration work.

Ideal candidate holds a BSc Eng or BEng in Electrical Engineering with ECSA PE status, and 10+ years’ experience in multi-disciplinary design within Power Generation, including PV systems and tendering. Strong knowledge of codes and safety standards is essential.

Qualifications

• BSc (Eng) or BEng in Electrical Engineering with active ECSA PE registration.
• 10+ years multi-disciplinary project design experience in Power Generation, with at least 5 years on PV systems.
• Knowledge of Environmental Legislation, OHS Act, SANS & IEC codes, Safety & ISO 9001, Grid Code.

Job description

We're looking for a Professional Engineer for a role in Cape Town in Power Generation (Renewables & Grid).

Minimum Requirements

• BSc (Eng) or B Eng degree in Electrical Engineering with an active ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer.


• Minimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience, especially in the Power Generation Industry, of which a minimum 5 years’ experience in specifically the design of PV Systems.


• Working knowledge of Environmental Legislation, the OHS Act and Regulations, SANS & IEC codes, Safety Management Standards, ISO 9001 and the South African Grid Code.


• Experience in tender compilations (including tender SOW), and project cost estimations (including BOQs) is needed.


• Proficiency in DigSilent or ETAP (or any other power system analysis software).


• Experience in the design of LV & MV MCCs and industrial plant reticulation will be highly beneficial.


• Experience in the design of DC plant and battery systems, renewable energy systems and 'earthing and lighting' protection systems will by highly beneficial.


• Experience in the specification of industrial plant electrical systems, switchgear and electrical motor protection will be highly beneficial.
