Job summary

MSP Staffing (PTY) LTD is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with strong HV expertise to lead the design, review and delivery of complex electrical projects. You will provide technical leadership across substations, transmission and distribution networks, from concept through construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities include leading HV designs, preparing drawings and specs, ensuring Eskom/Grid/IEC compliance, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• BTech, BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Proven HV experience covering substations, transmission and distribution networks, HV reticulation and protection systems.
• ECSA Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration preferred.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and client liaison skills.
• Sound knowledge of HV systems, protection, earthing and applicable compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV electrical engineering designs for substations, switching stations, HV reticulation and networks.
• Prepare, review and approve engineering drawings, calculations and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Eskom standards, Grid Code, NRS, IEC, SANS, OHSA and regs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, Eskom, consultants, suppliers and project teams.
• Support feasibility studies, tender evaluations and cost estimates.
• Provide site-based engineering support, including inspections and commissioning.
• Identify technical risks and develop safe, cost-effective solutions.
• Ensure projects meet safety, quality, programme and budget requirements.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with strong High Voltage (HV) expertise to lead the design, review and delivery of complex electrical engineering projects. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership across substations, transmission and distribution networks, and HV infrastructure, from initial concept through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute HV electrical engineering designs for substations, switching stations, HV reticulation and transmission and distribution networks.
• Prepare, review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Eskom standards, the South African Grid Code, NRS, IEC, SANS, OHSA and other applicable regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, Eskom, consultants, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support feasibility studies, tender evaluations, technical assessments and cost estimates.
• Provide site-based engineering support, including inspections, testing, commissioning and project handover.
• Identify technical risks and develop safe, practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Ensure projects meet safety, quality, programme and budget requirements.
• BTech, BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
