Qualifications

• Registration with a recognised engineering body is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design complex electronic modules and products to meet reliability and cost targets.
• Assess requirements and develop specifications and implementation plans.

• Document work, calculations, algorithms, test procedures, and reports.

Main Purpose of the Role

To design specific modules, components, and products, and take responsibility for complex phases of engineering projects requiring the application of advanced engineering principles and techniques. The successful incumbent will play a key role in the development of innovative electronic products while providing technical guidance and support to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Design complex electronic modules, components, and products that are reliable, cost-effective, and capable of consistently performing within specified operating environments.
• Assess project requirements and develop project specifications and implementation plans.
• Work closely within a multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve project objectives within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Professionally document all work, including engineering calculations, algorithms, test procedures, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and engineering standards.
• Develop testing procedures and evaluate, enhance, and re-test modules and products.
• Standardise designs wherever possible using approved and standard components while considering inventory management requirements.
• Solve complex engineering challenges and provide technical input to product development initiatives.
• Stay abreast of developments and emerging technologies within the electronic engineering field.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and technicians.
• Act as a technical advisor within the engineering team.
• Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to ensure successful project execution.
• Promote best engineering practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• B.Eng, B.Tech Electronic Engineering, or equivalent Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree.
• Registration with a recognised engineering body will be advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in a similar engineering environment.
• Experience working within a research and development environment will be advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects and deliver results within agreed timelines.
