Job summary

Staff Focus is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and develop Motor Control Centres in line with project requirements. You will generate QC documentation, prepare BOMs and I/O lists, and coordinate with workshop teams to ensure designs are practical and compliant. Proficiency with EC&I and panel building is valued.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in ePlan and 1+ year with AutoCAD Electrical, plus a relevant degree or diploma in electrical engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level electrical engineering qualification (Heavy Current or related).
• 2+ years' experience with ePlan and AutoCAD Electrical is required or advantageous.
• Experience in EC&I industry and electrical panel building is preferred.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Motor Control Centres (MCCs) in accordance with project specifications and technical requirements.
• Generate quality control (QC) documentation based on approved designs.
• Prepare accurate parts lists and bills of materials as per design requirements.
• Generate I/O lists and cable schedules for electrical projects.
• Liaise with the panel-building team and Workshop Manager to ensure designs are practical and aligned with workshop requirements.
• Communicate and coordinate with suppliers and clients regarding technical specifications and design requirements.
• Review and re-issue electrical designs based on workshop and site installation redlines.
• Ensure design documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant with project requirements.
• Support effective coordination between design, workshop, and installation teams.

Minimum Requirements

• BTech in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current); or
• BSc in Electrical Engineering; or
• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
• Minimum of 2 years' experience using ePlan.
• 1–2 years' experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge of and experience in the EC&I (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation) industry.
• Experience in electrical panel building (at least 1 year advantageous).
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Basic project management skills (advantageous).
