Job summary

WSP Africa's Power & Energy team is seeking an Electrical Draughtsman to contribute to Distribution and Transmission projects. You will create detailed substation and overhead line drawings (400/275/132 kV), develop SLDs and layouts, and ensure accuracy against IEC/IEEE/Eskom standards.

The role requires hands-on drafting in MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit, with 5–7 years MV/HV experience, and collaboration with engineers across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Draughting Design Certificate is required or highly preferred.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD and Revit, with emphasis on AutoCAD.
• 5–7 years MV/HV substation and overhead line drafting experience.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and Eskom standards or similar.
• Strong communication and coordination with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed drawings for substation equipment and overhead lines (400/275/132 kV).
• Develop and maintain SLDs, schematics, substation layouts and elevations.
• Coordinate electrical layouts with civil, structural and mechanical teams.
• Produce 2D drawings and 3D models; manage file versions.
• Visit sites to verify dimensions and gather information.
• Mentor junior drafters and ensure safety and quality compliance.
