Together Staffing group is seeking a highly senior Ecommerce Engineer to lead the Ecommerce Division within the IT department in Johannesburg. The role combines leadership with hands-on engineering to shape platform strategy and delivery.

The candidate will drive scalable, secure, and high-performing ecommerce systems, manage WooCommerce platforms, and align technology with revenue goals through close collaboration with business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BSc degree in IT, CS, software engineering, or related field.
• Senior-level experience in ecommerce engineering or digital commerce.
• Strong expertise in WooCommerce and ecommerce platform architecture.
• Backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of API design, system integrations, and databases.
• Experience with technical SEO and optimization strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead ecommerce platform development and technical strategy across the organization.
• Drive improvements in scalability, performance, security, and reliability of ecommerce systems.
• Manage WooCommerce-based platforms and associated digital infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain backend services and integrations using Node.js or PHP.
• Oversee API integrations with ERP, CRM, inventory, and payment systems.
• Implement SEO and performance optimization strategies to improve traffic and conversion.
• Manage deployment pipelines, environments, and release processes.
• Ensure data integrity across product catalogues and digital systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to align ecommerce strategy with revenue goals.
