Placements24 in Stellenbosch seeks a meticulous Digital Forensics Investigator to join our team. You will acquire, preserve, and analyze digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, and networks to support investigations into security incidents and fraud.

The role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of forensic methodologies, ensuring the integrity of digital evidence for court or internal reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years hands-on digital forensics investigation experience.
• Proficiency with leading digital forensics tools such as EnCase, FTK, X-Ways Forensics, Cellebrite, Autopsy.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and preserve digital evidence from diverse sources in a forensically sound manner.
• Analyze digital evidence using industry-standard tools and techniques.
• Identify and document security incidents, data breaches, and thefts.
• Reconstruct events and timelines from evidence.
• Prepare comprehensive forensic reports detailing methodologies and findings.
• Testify as an expert witness when required, in clear terms.
• Maintain chain of custody for all evidence.
• Stay updated with evolving forensics techniques and legal considerations.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and internal teams.
• Develop and refine investigation procedures and best practices.
