Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Digital Forensics Investigator for our Bloemfontein facility. You will conduct in-depth digital forensic examinations, acquiring, preserving, analyzing, and reporting evidence in a forensically sound manner for legal and regulatory investigations.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of hands-on experience, proficiency with EnCase/FTK/Cellebrite, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent proven experience.
• Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in digital forensics investigation.
• Proficiency with industry-standard forensics software and hardware.
• Strong understanding of OS, file systems, and network protocols.
• Experience with mobile device forensics is a strong asset.
• Certifications such as CFCE, EnCE, CCFP are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and preserve digital evidence from diverse sources using forensic best practices.
• Conduct detailed forensic analysis to identify relevant information, timelines, and user activity.
• Utilize tools (EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite) to recover data and trace activities.
• Document procedures, findings, and conclusions meticulously for legal proceedings.
• Prepare comprehensive forensic reports for legal and internal stakeholders.
• Testify in court or legal forums as an expert witness.
• Maintain chain of custody and stay updated on forensic methodologies.
