Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join their fully remote team in South Africa. This role bridges software development and IT operations, focusing on automation, reliability, and scalable cloud infrastructure.

You will design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and monitoring, collaborating with development and QA teams to improve deployment lifecycles and system health in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or a related systems engineering role.
Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and IaC tools.
Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, adapted for a remote working environment.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage scalable CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery.
Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system health and performance.
Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to ensure smooth and efficient software deployment lifecycles.
