Collaborate with development and operations to plan migrations, implement HA, and automate tasks. The ideal candidate has 5+ years DBA experience, strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, SQL), and familiarity with cloud services

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic fintech company based in Polokwane , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain its critical database systems. This role is essential for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our databases, supporting our rapidly growing digital platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in various database technologies, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and security best practices. You will work closely with development and operations teams to optimize database performance and ensure data availability. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

Strong understanding of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies. Expertise in backup, recovery, and high availability solutions (e.g., Always On, RAC). Solid knowledge of database security principles and best practices. Experience with scripting languages for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, SQL scripting). Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
