Job summary

A leading multinational corporation in Centurion, Gauteng, is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain critical database systems, ensuring performance, availability, security and data integrity for extensive repositories.

You will design, implement and tune databases, develop backup and recovery strategies, and troubleshoot complex issues while collaborating with development teams to optimize applications and ensure scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Proven experience with major relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and database design principles.
• Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies.
• Experience with database security implementation and user management.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
• Understanding of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
