Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our data analytics client in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role combines on-site collaboration in the Nelspruit office with remote work flexibility, focusing on SQL and NoSQL databases, performance tuning, security, and robust backup/recovery strategies.

You will design, install, configure, and maintain database systems, mentor junior staff, and work closely with development teams to optimize queries and ensure data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, focused on SQL databases.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
• Strong skills in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Experience with backup/recovery tools and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL) is desirable.
• Scripting in SQL, Bash, Python for automation.
