Job summary

Camunda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its data streaming initiative to build a foundation for scalable process-data access and analytics. You will help design and implement a streaming layer that decouples data consumption from the live engine and integrate with customer systems.

You will collaborate with product, data layer, and SRE to evolve the streaming architecture, contribute to on-call rotations, and help shape a high-ownership team from day one.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as a backend engineer with a focus on distributed systems.
• Experience building/operating analytical layers over Iceberg or Delta Lake, plus embedded query engines.
• Strong understanding of object storage and idempotent upload/commit protocols.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild analytics data consumption and serving at scale, away from the engine path.
• Design core streaming infra to decouple data access from live execution, backed by durable storage.
• Develop customer-facing streaming capabilities and integrations (e.g. Kafka).
• Make architecture decisions in a small, high-ownership team with strong ownership.
• Contribute to L3 support and on-call rotations with cross-team collaboration.
