Entelect in South Africa is seeking a Senior Data Solutions Engineer to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. You will tackle complex data challenges across the analytics value chain, from source data and medallion architectures to reporting, dashboards, and AI-enabled solutions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Solution Architects to design cloud, hybrid, and on-prem solutions, building scalable data pipelines, and mentoring colleagues, with a hybrid work model (2–3 days in office).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience as a data solutions engineer.
• Proficiency in software engineering fundamentals and clean code.
• Experience in delivering with a cross-functional delivery team.
• Strong data modelling and data engineering understanding.
• Knowledge of DataOps and MLOps concepts.

Responsibilities

• Wrangle data from multiple sources into a reliable asset.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects to design cloud/hybrid/on-prem solutions.
• Design and implement data pipelines and advanced analytics using AI/ML.

What You'll Be Doing:

Delivery

• We like to play to your individual strengths, but having a solid understanding of the entire data analytics value chain, from source data and medallion architectures, through to reporting, dashboarding, advanced analytics, and AI solutions, is advantageous.
• Wrangling data from multiple sources into a reliable, evolving data asset.
• Collaborating with Solution Architects to design and implement cloud, hybrid, and on-prem solutions.
• Designing and implementing optimal data engineering pipelines and, if this is within your wheelhouse, delivering impactful advanced analytics using AI and ML/data science.
• Working across descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive, and cognitive analytics.
• Understanding DataOps and MLOps to ensure continuous deployment in short cycles with maximum impact and high quality.
• Maintaining data lineage and metadata effectively.
• Using technical and data analytics expertise to improve business innovations.

What We Need from You:

• A bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 6 years' experience as a data solutions engineer in an enterprise environment.
• Proficiency in software engineering fundamentals and commitment to clean code and best practices.
• Experience working in a delivery team together with other disciplines to deliver a product.
• Strong ability to model and analyse data.
• Solid understanding of data engineering methodologies.
• Good understanding of visualisation best practices.
• A desire to design and implement modern advanced analytics solutions and modern data solutions like Lakehouse, data mesh, and data fabric.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a drive for continual improvement.
• Pro hybrid working model working from the office on average 2-3 times per week.
• A strong customer-facing ability.
• Flexibility to work across a variety of different environments and tooling.
