About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with a specialization in AI/ML innovation to join our team. This role is based remotely, offering flexibility for candidates near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA, or elsewhere.

You will lead the exploration and development of novel AI and machine learning models, tackle complex business problems through data analysis, and contribute to groundbreaking research. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of advanced machine learning models and AI solutions.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and prototype new algorithms and statistical models for various business applications.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models into production environments.
• Evaluate and select appropriate ML algorithms and tools for specific problems.
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.
• Communicate complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the team's technical growth.
• Design and execute A/B tests and experiments to validate model performance.
• Contribute to the development of data strategies and best practices.
• Document methodologies, code, and results clearly and comprehensively.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on AI/ML.
• Expertise in Python, R, and relevant data science libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data/ML services.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, suitable for remote work.
• Proven ability to translate business problems into data science solutions.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
