Our client, a major player within the financial services industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Business Analyst - Information Management to join a strategic enterprise transformation programme on an 18-month contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end data analysis and information management requirements of the programme, with a particular focus on data discovery, profiling, classification, valuation, governance, business process analysis and requirements definition.
The role will support a large-scale enterprise solution and business process transformation initiative, working closely with business, data and technology stakeholders to ensure that data assets, information requirements and related business processes are clearly understood, documented and incorporated into the overall solution.
This opportunity will suit an experienced data and information management professional who combines strong analytical capability with solid business analysis experience and is comfortable operating within a complex enterprise environment.

Requirements

• Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, such as:

• A recognised Data Management certification, such as DAMA/CDMP or equivalent, will be advantageous.

• Strong practical experience in data discovery, data profiling, data classification and data analysis.
• Advanced knowledge and practical understanding of Information Management principles and practices.
• Solid exposure to Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience within large-scale enterprise transformation, ERP, cloud or technology programmes will be advantageous.
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis and translating business needs into structured data, information, business and functional requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct data discovery to identify and understand data assets within the context of business value drivers, business processes and data products.
• Profile identified data assets to determine:

  • Appropriate data-handling requirements
• Analyse and classify data and information according to relevant business, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Establish relationships and dependencies between data elements, business processes, data products and business requirements.
• Conduct detailed analysis to identify different categories of data and information and assess their relevance to the programme.
• Apply appropriate data valuation techniques to determine the business importance, value and potential reuse of data assets.
• Support the definition and implementation of standards, guidelines, processes and procedures for data analysis and information management.
• Provide input into data governance, access control, authorisation, sensitivity classification and legislative compliance requirements.
• Analyse data requirements as information moves from source to target environments, including considerations relating to data in transit and data at rest.
• Support business process analysis and business process re-engineering initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops and engagements with business, data and technology stakeholders to identify and validate requirements.
• Translate business needs into clearly defined data, information, business and functional requirements.
• Identify gaps, dependencies, constraints and risks relating to data and information requirements.
• Prepare regular analysis reports, provide actionable insights and deliver timely status updates to support programme and data-domain management.
• Work closely with solution, architecture, governance and technology teams to ensure data requirements are effectively incorporated into the proposed solution.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to confirm that implemented solutions meet approved requirements.
• Review training and supporting documentation to ensure alignment with approved processes, information requirements and solution functionality.
