Job summary

Confluent in Cape Town (Pinelands) is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Data Analyst to lead data insights using Power BI and SQL. You’ll build dashboards, write SQL queries, and partner with Data Engineering and Data Science to maximise the data platform.

The role involves shaping reporting roadmaps, mentoring other analysts, and driving KPI improvements across the group. A numerate degree and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar.
• Strong SQL: write, optimise, and debug complex queries independently.
• Solid hands-on Power BI experience; Tableau or Looker accepted.
• Degree in a numerate field (Math, Statistics, CS, Data Science, Informatics, Information Systems, OR similar).
• Sharp analytical thinking and comfort with ambiguity.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that drive day-to-day decisions across the group.
• Write efficient SQL against our data warehouse for ad-hoc questions and recurring reporting.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science to maximise the data platform.
• Turn vague business questions into clear analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Identify opportunities to improve KPI performance in the areas you support.
• (Senior) Own the reporting roadmap for a business area and mentor other analysts.
