Job summary

Sanlam in Cape Town seeks a Senior Data Analyst for its Banking BU. You will work with marketing insights and digital products teams to measure performance, understand P&L drivers, and guide distribution, activation and segment strategy.

You will build driver-based models, develop visualisations, and tell data-driven stories that link revenue to customer behavior. The role requires 5+ years in insights, SQL, and BI tools, with senior collaboration and high autonomy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an insights role as a data scientist or data analyst.
• A proven track record of defining KPIs/metrics that influenced decision-making.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one BI/visualisation tool (Tableau, PowerBI).
• Experience partnering with senior business stakeholders.
• Strong data storytelling and communication skills, comfortable engaging with non-technical executives.
• Senior I role, suited to someone comfortable with ambiguity and with a high growth mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build a driver-based model of the banking P&L covering all revenue and cost streams.
• Deliver curated performance metric visualisations that start from the P&L and decompose variances into driver behaviours.
• Connect distribution attribution data to banking transaction data to show channel value.
• Generate insights about activation propensity and product appetite.
