Job summary

Pay@, a leading payment aggregator based in Stellenbosch, is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to drive data-driven decision-making, improve data structures, and support business reporting across the organisation. You will analyse the SQL Server data environment, translate reporting needs into data solutions, and build Excel-based reports and dashboards, with strong focus on data quality and performance.

Exposure to Power BI and Agile delivery practices is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field such as Information Systems, CS, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Finance.
• 8-10 years’ experience in a similar data analysis role.
• Strong communication in English with the ability to work with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and maintain understanding of the SQL Server data environment, including data structures and flows.

Pay@, a leading payment aggregator and provider of secure payment solutions, is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join their growing team based in Stellenbosch. This role focuses on enabling data-driven decision-making, improving data structures, and supporting business reporting across the organisation.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed individual with strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyse and maintain an understanding of the SQL Server data environment, including data structures and flows.
• Translate business reporting requirements into data solutions.
• Write and optimise SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
• Build and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards.
• Perform ad hoc analysis to support business decision-making.
• Identify and recommend improvements to data structures and performance.
• Support testing, validation, and data quality processes.
• Assist business users with data and reporting queries.
• All other tasks related to the role.
• Degree in a relevant quantitative field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Finance).
• 8-10 years’ experience in a similar data analysis role.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards.
• Strong communication skills in English with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.

Advantageous:

• Experience with data modelling or database optimisation.
• Exposure to Power BI or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery practices.
• Experience in fintech, payments or financial services.
