About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the maritime logistics industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Architect to lead the design and implementation of robust network security solutions. This role is crucial in protecting the company's critical infrastructure and sensitive data from sophisticated cyber threats. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall cybersecurity architecture, focusing specifically on network security, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and secure network segmentation. The position is based at our client's regional headquarters in Mossel Bay, Western Cape , with a hybrid work arrangement offering a balance between in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. We are looking for a visionary leader with a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and the ability to translate business requirements into secure and scalable architectural designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the organization's network security architecture.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Evaluate and select appropriate network security technologies and solutions.
• Oversee the deployment and configuration of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and other network security devices.
• Conduct security assessments of network infrastructure and identify vulnerabilities.
• Develop strategies for network segmentation and zero-trust architectures.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams to ensure security is integrated into all network designs and operations.
• Provide expert guidance on secure network configuration and best practices.
• Respond to and assist in the investigation of network security incidents.
• Stay current with emerging network security threats and technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a significant focus on network security architecture.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex network security solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC solutions.
• Experience with cloud networking security concepts (e.g., VPC security, Transit Gateway) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) is a plus.
• Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCNP Security, or GIAC certifications are highly desirable.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
