About the Role

Our client, a prominent telecommunications company in Pretoria, Gauteng , is seeking a highly skilled Information Security Architect with a specialization in network security. This role is crucial for designing, building, and maintaining a secure and resilient network infrastructure that protects against sophisticated cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network security design, implementation, and operational support, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and zero-trust architectures. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa while contributing to the security of our national network.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage robust network security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Develop and maintain security architecture blueprints, standards, and guidelines for network infrastructure.
• Conduct security assessments of network designs and proposed changes to ensure adherence to security policies.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams to integrate security controls into the network lifecycle.
• Define and implement secure network configurations and hardening standards.
• Evaluate and recommend new network security technologies and solutions.
• Develop and manage security monitoring tools and processes for network traffic analysis.
• Lead security incident investigations related to network breaches and provide technical expertise.
• Ensure network security compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in information security, with a strong focus on network security architecture and design.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, SIEM, and VPN technologies.
• Experience designing and implementing Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) security.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation for network security tasks.
• Familiarity with cloud network security (AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a significant advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Relevant security certifications like CISSP, CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or vendor-specific firewall certifications are preferred.
