Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join our security operations center in Soweto, Gauteng. This hybrid role balances office collaboration with remote work, focusing on monitoring security systems, incident response, and threat hunting to protect critical IT assets.

The ideal candidate has a 4+ year background in cybersecurity operations, hands-on SIEM experience (Splunk/QRadar/LogRhythm), and a solid understanding of security threats and frameworks like ISO 27001 and NIST.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in cybersecurity operations or related security role.
• Experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm).
• Strong understanding of common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methodologies (phishing, malware, DDoS, SQL injection).
• Experience with incident response procedures and tools.
• Familiarity with network security concepts, protocols, and technologies.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, NIST).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a hybrid team.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or GCIH are a plus.

Aufgaben

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR to detect incidents.
• Perform in-depth analysis of incidents, identify scope, impact, and root cause.
• Develop and execute incident response plans; coordinate containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Conduct threat hunting to identify and mitigate emerging threats.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with IT teams.
• Analyze security logs and network traffic for suspicious activity.
• Stay informed about latest threats, attack vectors and mitigation techniques.
• Contribute to security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Assist in security awareness training for employees.
• Participate in forensic investigations as needed.
