Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Manager in Richards Bay to lead credit risk assessment and management functions. The role focuses on developing robust risk policies, managing the credit portfolio, and ensuring regulatory compliance across a hybrid work model.

You will guide a team of risk professionals and collaborate with lending, operations, and compliance to shape risk strategy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within banking/financial services.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing credit risk frameworks and policies.
• In-depth knowledge of credit risk modeling, portfolio management, and Basel regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with credit risk software and data analysis tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and refine credit risk policies and procedures.
• Oversee the credit approval process for corporate and retail lending.
• Monitor and analyze the credit quality of the loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
• Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess portfolio resilience.
• Ensure compliance with local and international credit risk regulations.
• Lead and mentor the credit risk team, fostering high performance.
• Prepare comprehensive credit risk reports for senior management and regulators.
• Collaborate with business units to ensure sound lending practices and risk appetite alignment.
• Develop and maintain credit scoring models and risk rating systems.
