Placements24 is seeking a Senior Corrosion Engineer to join a prominent Oil & Gas operator in Randburg, Gauteng. You will lead corrosion prevention programs, assess risks, and select materials and protective systems for diverse assets.

The role requires 8+ years in corrosion engineering within Oil & Gas, strong knowledge of coatings, cathodic protection, and corrosion modeling tools, plus excellent communication and stakeholder influence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering is required.
• 8+ years of progressive corrosion engineering experience in Oil & Gas is required.
• NACE certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement corrosion control and prevention programs for onshore and offshore assets.
• Conduct corrosion assessments, failure analyses, and risk assessments.
• Select materials and protective systems (coatings, cathodic protection) for projects and existing facilities.
• Oversee inspection and monitoring of corrosion protection systems.
• Investigate corrosion-related failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (NACE, API) for corrosion management.
• Provide technical support to engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
• Develop training materials and deliver corrosion awareness training.
• Stay updated on new corrosion engineering technologies and methods.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and maintenance plans.
