Job summary

Placements24 seeks a skilled Control Systems Engineer for an on-site role in Centurion, Gauteng. You will design, develop, implement and support sophisticated control systems for diverse industrial applications, collaborating with clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics, 5+ years in control systems, and PLC/SCADA/HMI expertise. Some travel for commissioning may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Proficiency with major PLC platforms (Siemens S7, Rockwell Automation/AB).
• Experience with SCADA software (WinCC, FactoryTalk View) and HMI development.
• Strong knowledge of automation principles, motor control, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and cybersecurity best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; travel for commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial projects.
• Develop and debug control software using ladder logic, structured text, and FB.
• Configure industrial networks (Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus) and commission.
• Perform system integration, testing, and validation for reliability.
• Provide on-site support during commissioning and operation.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to define system requirements.
