Placements24 is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer for an on-site role in Centurion, SA. You will design and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects, and provide on-site support during commissioning and operation.

You will develop software using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram, and configure networks like Profibus and Ethernet/IP. A strong automation background and travel flexibility are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
Proficiency in programming and configuring major PLC platforms (Siemens S7, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley).
Experience with SCADA software (WinCC, FactoryTalk View) and HMI development.
Strong understanding of industrial automation principles, motor control, and instrumentation.
Knowledge of industrial networking protocols and cybersecurity best practices.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with clients and colleagues.
Willingness to travel occasionally for project commissioning and support.
Experience with robotics or motion control is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for industrial automation projects.
Develop and debug control system software using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagram.
Configure and commission industrial communication networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
Perform system integration, testing, and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting during commissioning and operation.
Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams to define system requirements and specifications.
Develop documentation including design specs, user manuals, and test reports.
Stay updated with advancements in control system technology and automation trends.
Conduct training for clients and end-users on operation and maintenance.
Contribute to project planning, resource estimation, and risk assessment.
