Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Law Advisor to join the East London-based legal team. The role focuses on drafting and negotiating construction contracts, advising on risk and procurement, and managing disputes for large-scale projects.

The ideal candidate will have an LLB, be admitted as an attorney in SA, and possess at least 7 years of post-admission construction-law experience. A hybrid work model is offered in the Eastern Cape region.

Qualifications

• LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 7 years post-admission experience in construction law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex construction contracts.
• In-depth knowledge of SA construction law and FIDIC terms.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts including EPC and FIDIC.
• Provide legal advice on procurement, tendering, and contractual claims.
• Manage disputes through arbitration or litigation.
• Ensure compliance with SA construction laws and safety/environmental regs.
• Conduct due diligence for construction projects and acquisitions.
• Assist with project financing documents.
