Placements24 is assisting a Sandton-based client in recruiting a Senior Estimator. The role focuses on preparing cost estimates from tender stage through project completion, analyzing bids, and providing financial insights to guide profitability and competitiveness.

The role is on-site in Sandton, Gauteng, requiring strong technical and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years in construction estimating, deep knowledge of materials, methods, and market pricing, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering (required).
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in construction estimating.
• Proven track record estimating diverse construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of estimating software and techniques.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects.
• Analyze tender documents, blueprints, specifications, and other docs to define scope and requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project needs and develop cost solutions.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing.
• Develop detailed bills of quantities and cost breakdowns.
• Identify risks and opportunities related to project costs.
• Present and negotiate estimates with clients and stakeholders.
• Maintain a database of historical cost data for future estimating references.
• Stay current with industry trends, material costs, and construction technologies.
