Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel in Sandton with a strong background in commercial and corporate law. The role focuses on leading complex contract negotiations, advising on mergers and acquisitions, and overseeing regulatory compliance within a high-profile corporate environment.

The successful candidate will manage disputes, shape legal strategy, and provide clear guidance to senior management while safeguarding the company’s interests and supporting growth objectives.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 10+ years PQE focused on commercial and corporate law
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex international and domestic commercial contracts
• In-depth knowledge of corporate finance, M&A and governance
• Strong strategic thinking, negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects and advise senior management

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations and draft complex commercial agreements including supply, distribution, and joint venture agreements
• Provide expert legal advice on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and corporate restructuring
• Manage and advise on dispute resolution and litigation with external counsel
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies
• Develop and implement legal strategies to support business objectives and mitigate risk
• Advise on IP matters and manage the company’s IP portfolio
