Job summary

Placements24 in Cape Town seeks an experienced Legal Counsel specialized in Commercial Contracts to advise on a wide range of agreements, partnerships and transactional matters within a dynamic in-house team.

You will draft, review and negotiate contracts, ensure compliance with South African laws and governance standards, and collaborate with business units to protect the company’s interests and drive strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa (or equivalent qualification).
• Minimum of 6 years' post-admission experience, with a significant portion focused on commercial contract law.
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
• Excellent understanding of contract lifecycle management and corporate governance principles.
• Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to provide practical legal solutions in Cape Town.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including service, supply, and licensing agreements.
• Provide expert legal advice on contractual interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution strategies.
• Ensure all contracts comply with relevant South African laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with business development, sales, and procurement teams to support commercial initiatives.
• Manage and maintain the company's contract management system and legal records.
