Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join a globally distributed, remote-first team. You will design, implement, and manage secure, scalable cloud networking infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring high performance and reliability.

You will automate provisioning with IaC, collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams, harden cloud networks against threats, and optimize routing, subnets, and load balancing to support mission-critical applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years in network engineering with a strong cloud focus.
• Deep expertise in virtual networks, subnets, routing and load balancing in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform/Ansible) and scripting (Python).
• Strong cloud network security practices and incident response awareness.
• Experience with containers and cloud networking concepts (Docker/Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud network solutions on major cloud platforms.
• Implement and manage network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS in cloud.
• Optimize network performance, latency, and throughput for cloud apps and services.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join their globally distributed team, working fully remotely. This role is integral to designing, implementing, and managing our client's secure, scalable, and high-performance cloud-based network infrastructure. You will leverage your expertise in cloud networking technologies to support critical operations and drive innovation across the organization. As a remote-first position, you will collaborate effectively with teams across different time zones, contributing to a culture of asynchronous communication and trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain robust and scalable network solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Implement and manage network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems within cloud environments.
• Optimize network performance, latency, and throughput for cloud-based applications and services.
• Develop and automate network provisioning, configuration, and management tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues in distributed cloud environments and provide timely resolutions.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps, SRE, and application development teams to ensure seamless integration and operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Over 7 years of experience in network engineering, with a significant focus on cloud networking.
• Deep expertise in designing and managing virtual networks, subnets, routing, and load balancing in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python).
• Strong understanding of network security best practices in a cloud context.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and related networking concepts.
