Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices in cloud environments. You will mentor juniors and drive architecture decisions, with a strong focus on cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern languages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in software development with cloud-native focus.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Proficient in Go, Python, Java or C#.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• CI/CD principles and tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Architect robust and fault-tolerant systems using best practices for cloud infrastructure.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code in languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C#.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Work closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define technical requirements.
• Utilize containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations.
• Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in cloud computing and software engineering.
