Job summary

Placements24 in Pretoria is seeking a Senior Software Architect to define the technical strategy for cloud adoption and oversee the evolution of the organization’s cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with engineering teams to implement robust architectural patterns and drive best practices that support business objectives.

This role requires 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in cloud architecture, deep knowledge of microservices, containers, and CI/CD, and strong security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in cloud architecture and design.
• Proven experience designing and managing complex cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Deep understanding of microservices, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of networking, security, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-native architectures on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for cloud infrastructure development.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure effective implementation of architectural designs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on cloud technologies and methodologies.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance cloud capabilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to cloud performance and reliability.
