About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate complex property and casualty insurance claims, ensuring adherence to policy terms and conditions.
• Conduct thorough fact-finding, including site inspections (when necessary), witness interviews, and review of relevant documentation.
• Determine coverage, liability, and damages, preparing detailed reports and recommendations for claim resolution.
• Manage a caseload of assigned claims efficiently, prioritizing urgent matters and meeting strict deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with policyholders, claimants, legal counsel, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Collaborate with underwriting and loss control departments to identify trends and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Mentor and guide junior claims adjusters, sharing expertise and best practices.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in property and casualty insurance.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in handling property and casualty insurance claims.
• Proven track record in managing complex claims investigations and negotiations.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance principles, policy interpretation, and legal requirements relevant to South Africa .
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in claims management software and standard office applications.
• Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in insurance (e.g., Chartered Insurance Practitioner) are highly advantageous.
