Job summary

Our client in the civil engineering and construction sector seeks a dynamic Lead Project Manager to join the Pietermaritzburg team. You will own high-profile projects from planning to handover, leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring quality, safety, and environmental compliance on site.

Requirements include a civil engineering degree and 10+ years in project management for infrastructure, with budgets above R100 million. ECSA registration is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering project management experience on large-scale infrastructure.
• Proven track record delivering projects > R100 million.
• Familiar with SA construction regulations, codes, and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee execution of major civil/construct ion projects ensuring alignment with objectives and standards.
• Develop detailed execution strategies including scope, resources, schedule, budget, and risk management.
• Lead engineers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and staff; foster teamwork and accountability.
• Manage client relationships and coordinate with consultants and government agencies.
• Monitor finances: cost control, forecasting, invoicing, and payments.
• Ensure rigorous QA/QC across project lifecycle and compliance with HSE rules.
• Prepare status reports for senior management and clients.
• Conduct site inspections and progress reviews to verify quality and compliance.
