Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead major civil infrastructure initiatives in Rustenburg, North West. The candidate will oversee planning, procurement, construction, and handover, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and high quality while maintaining safety.

The role requires a strong civil engineering background with a track record in roads, bulk earthworks, and services. Leadership, stakeholder management and knowledge of MS Project/Primavera P6 are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in project engineering and management, infrastructure focus.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Pr CM registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Proven track record managing large/complex infrastructure projects (roads, bulk services).
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials and quality control.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Understanding of contract law and FIDIC/NEC conditions of contract.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage major civil infrastructure projects from planning to construction.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules and budgets; monitor progress.
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance on sites.
• Manage contracts, subcontracts and procurement processes.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and regulators.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and site personnel.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to meet standards.
• Identify and mitigate project risks; resolve issues during construction.
• Prepare regular progress reports for senior management.
