About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking engineering consultancy dedicated to sustainable infrastructure development, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in Water and Sanitation to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and project management of complex water supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management systems for diverse clients across various regions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
• Conduct detailed hydraulic and hydrological modeling and analysis using industry-standard software.
• Develop comprehensive engineering designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and client communications effectively in a remote setting.
• Collaborate closely with virtual project teams, including engineers, technicians, and stakeholders from various geographical locations.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international engineering standards and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff virtually.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and tender documents.
• Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and client engagement for new projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) or an equivalent international body is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in water and sanitation engineering.
• Proven expertise in water and wastewater treatment processes, pipeline design, and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, HEC-RAS, SWMM).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead remote teams effectively.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills adapted for a virtual environment.
• Proficiency with project management software and collaborative online tools.
• Strong understanding of South African water and sanitation sector challenges and opportunities, while being adaptable to international contexts.
• Self-discipline, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
