Our client, a progressive engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Water and Sanitation Engineer to join their fully remote team. This role focuses on the design and implementation of sustainable water supply and wastewater management systems for diverse communities and industries, with opportunities to lead projects across Polokwane and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 8+ years of professional water and sanitation engineering experience.
• Professional registration with ECSA (e.g., Pr Eng).
• Experience with water and wastewater treatment processes, hydraulics and network analysis software.
• Experience leading complex water and sanitation projects from conception to completion.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and public health standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership in remote settings.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of water supply and sanitation infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, option assessments, and master planning for water and wastewater services.
• Perform detailed hydraulic modeling and analysis for water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Prepare comprehensive engineering designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders in a remote environment.
• Oversee the construction phase, including site inspections and contractor management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; a Master's degree specializing in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in water and sanitation engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (e.g., Pr Eng) is essential.
• Expertise in water and wastewater treatment processes, hydraulics, and network analysis software (e.g., EPANET, InfoWorks WS Pro, SWMM).
• Proven experience in managing complex water and sanitation projects from conception to completion.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and public health standards.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineering staff.
