Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a prominent consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with expertise in Water and Sanitation to join their team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. This hybrid role will involve both remote work and on-site presence for project meetings and site supervision. You will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of water supply, wastewater treatment, and reticulation systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in hydraulics, hydrology, and sanitation engineering, coupled with excellent project management skills. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to essential infrastructure development in the Western Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and detailed designs for water treatment plants, pipelines, and pump stations.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis for water distribution and sewer networks.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Manage project teams, coordinate with contractors, and oversee construction supervision.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant SANS standards, environmental regulations, and municipal requirements.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Mentor and guide junior civil engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr. Eng. is essential.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in water and sanitation engineering.
• Proven experience in the design of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and distribution/collection systems.
• Proficiency in relevant design and modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS, AutoCAD).
