About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy in civil engineering solutions, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical site investigations and interpret geological data.
• Design and oversee the construction of foundations, retaining walls, and other earth structures.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and calculations for geotechnical aspects of projects.
• Provide expert consultation on soil behavior, slope stability, and seismic analysis.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and client relationships, ensuring successful project delivery from a remote standpoint.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and construction teams through digital communication channels.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall technical development of the team.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, codes of practice, and safety regulations.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and implement innovative solutions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, with a strong emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or eligibility for such registration.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, covering site investigations, analysis, and design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects concurrently and meeting tight deadlines in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a remote team, demonstrating strong self-discipline and organizational skills.
• A stable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup conducive to remote work.
• Experience in contract administration and a good understanding of construction methods.
• Knowledge of South African geological conditions and construction practices is advantageous.
